lod aka luis ortiz was introduced to techno music while attending university in dublin, ireland when he was only 17 years old. the experience of living in four different countries like spain, ireland, england and usa have changed the way he perceives and produces music and it has given him the opportunity to open his mind to different styles of electronic sounds and production techniques eventough he recognizes to get most of his influences in the states working with andrew clyne.
luis ortiz have collaborated with different proyects and collectives. in boston he worked with n.e.a.u. where he got involved in the acid underground movement in the early ninetees. in los angeles he cofounds t.m.f. to experiment on analog sintesis and sampling methods. when he finally moves back to spain he worked with protone, an electronic art collective created to develop the electronic scene in the canary islands thorugh events, expositions and seminars.
luis ortiz have travelled around the globe to play in countries like usa, canada, england, ireland, germany and spain at festivals like sonar 2003 and time warp in germany being the first spanish artist to play for this prestigious german promoter.
nowadays he lives in barcelona where he runs klitekture records and where he works on his proyect called lod to produce minimal and experimental music. sinergy networks, his new mp3 label based on the synergy theory will see the light in the beginings of 2004.
in 2006, he started a new label with a new concept of minimal techno with a mixture of light and darkness, calima.
